I hope you are all well. Today I decided to take part in the Less Is More Challenge (#374) – I haven’t taken part in this challenge before, but I subscribe to a lovely lady called Izzy who is on their Design Team. If you do not know Izzy, I encourage you to pay her a visit and see her beautiful cards. Her style is Clean and Simple which she combines with lots of lovely techniques. I always enjoy seeing her cards.
After reading Izzy’s post this week and seeing her three gorgeous cards from “scraps”, I delved into my folder. The challenge is all about using “items from your bits box”.
So, first I thought it would be a good idea to show you a few photos of my scraps. Or maybe not, I look terribly disorganised… as there are many but they are more sorted than they look at first glance!
Above is my background panels – sorted into general (oh so many of these to use up), brusho and alcohol ink. Plus there are some rainbow cardstrips that I created last year after seeing a video from Jennifer McGuire, that I still need to finish using.
And above is my bags of die cuts plus things that I have coloured ready to use including some almost finished panels. They are sorted into Clearly Besotted (as I am on their Design Team), other brand/company, finished panels which are ready to mount up, miscellaneous, Christmas, Critters and Floral. It kind of works for me until I have space to sort them into a better format.
So, after all that faffing, do you want to see what I created? Well, here is my card.
As you will have guessed this came together fairly quickly. I cut a pre-made Alcohol Ink piece down so that I could adhere it behind a window panel which had been popped up with foam tape. So this is a card with two layers. I then took the two otters and arranged them in the window and popped them up also with foam tape.
The otters were previously stamped with Copic friendly ink and coloured with markers (R20, E41, E42, E43 and E44)
Lastly I took some stars which had already been die cut and adhered them using wet glue to the alcohol ink section.
The greeting was created by white heat embossing another great sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Vacation Time onto red cardstock.
I hope that the card fits the rules of the challenge as I do find “less is more” hard! But if not, it is another card ready to be sent out.
Off now to make the dinner, it never ends! Happy crafting and I’ll be back on Wednesday with the first of the teasers for the Clearly Besotted July release.
