Today I have a very contemporary Christmas card for you – and I am using some sparkly glimmer paste and tone on tone ink blending for my background. This card has been created using the fabulous new monthly kit from My Favorite Things which was very kindly sent to me a few weeks ago. It releases today and I am sure it’s going to be popular! Festive Flamingos are definitely a lot of fun on a card!
To create my background, I cut a top panel from Neenah Solar White cardstock with a Stitched Arch Stax die and traced a feint line through the opening onto my green cardstock. I then drew a slightly bigger line on the outside of this and erased the inner line. This now marks the area that I need to paste in and means I won’t see any pencil lines when it’s finished.
I taped the pre-cut and scored green base card to my craft mat and then the Sun Ray stencil on top of that. Twisted Citron Distress Ink was applied through the stencil, fading out towards the outer edge. My stencil was cleaned and then laid back down again in the same place. I took some Tonic Glimmer Paste (Moonshine) and applied this through the stencil with a palette knife, removed and cleaned the stencil and palette knife and left it to dry.
Whilst it was drying, I worked on the other elements of the card. My images were stamped with MFT Extreme Black Hybrid Black ink onto Neenah and coloured with Copics (colours listed below). They were then cut out with the coordinating dies and foam tape adhered to the back.
As the top panel is popped up, I also added foam tape to the back of this.
After the paste had dried completely (about an hour to be on the safe side), I assembled the card by popping on the top panel, adhering the flamingos and then I finished by adding my sentiment. This was stamped with Versamark onto black cardstock and heat embossed with WOW Super Fine White Embossing Powder.
A very contemporary Christmas card – this one may well go to my sister as she likes all thinks modern! I think this is such a fabulous kit. Included are the Festive Flamingos Stamps and Coordinating Dies, a selection of high quality cardstock and some gorgeous patterned papers.
Thank you for stopping by, I hope you have a fabulous week!
Copics used: Flamingos (RV000, RV00, RV02), Beaks (Y08, Y17), Lights (RV06, Y08, YG01), Scarf (RV02, RV04, RV06)
