Hello there!
Today I am delighted to be sharing a birthday card with you – yay! It’s so tricky this time of year as we are in full swing making our Christmas cards and so it’s great to be able to share something a bit different with you.
This little girl is called Kylee Boo and she is one of the many delightful stamps in the Picket Fence Studios portfolio. I rarely make a card where it is just the image on the card – and it is nice to let the image and colouring be the focal point.
So here she is.
When I first pulled her off the acetate sheet, I really wasn’t sure what to do with my design, so I wandered over to my border dies and found this lovely MFT stitched scalloped edge die set that I hadn’t used in ages, and that’s where the design process began!
I decided on the curved scallop die for the bottom of my panel and with that in mind I lined her up onto the panel and stamped her in Picket Fence Studio’s Hybrid Black ink and the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink.
I looked through my small stash of patterned papers and thought the MFT Black and White striped paper would look good at the bottom. This paper dictated the colour that I coloured her dress – I wanted something bright and bold to stand up to those stripes!
She was coloured with Copics (numbers below) and then I assembled the card. The patterned paper was adhered with DST to an A2 top folding Neenah 110lb base card. I then popped some foam tape under the scalloped panel and adhered that to the base. I left a little gap at the top of the card for extra interest but it’s hard to see in the photos – but the panel sits just slightly down from the top.
And that finished my card – I love the simplicity of the card and she was a joy to colour!
Thank you as always for visiting – it’s been quite a busy week on my blog and I thank you for all your lovely comments, you are much appreciated.

I like how you let us in on your process of getting to the end of the card. Now if I’m stumped, one of the places I will go to is to check out my dies…. especially the border dies.
