I am back for my second week of Guest Designing for the Sketch Challenge over at My Favorite things. Every week there is a new sketch to play along with, and this is the template for this week’s challenge.
And here is my card for today.
For this week’s card I am playing with the newly released Here Comes Santa Claus set. Such a fun set – full of lovely possibilities. There are several Santa images to chose from, along with the super cute reindeer, some presents and a little house. And as with all MFT sets, a plethora of super fun and sometimes punny sentiments.
As always I began by stamping and colouring my images. I used some Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock and stamped them with MFT Extreme Black Hybrid Ink. They were coloured with Copics and die-cut with the coordinating dynamics. Copic numbers are listed below. When I am not quite sure what I am going to use – I stamp and die-cut all the images so that I can play around with the design, and then I colour them.
To create my background, I took a panel of Neenah Solar White 80lb and trimmed it down to 4″ x 5.25″. I then blended Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass over the top third of the panel, making sure to fade out towards the top edge. I splattered some water droplets over the panel, left them for a few seconds and then picked them up with a paper towel. I then flicked some white gouache over that section to add additional interest for the snowy sky.
I took some black cardstock, stamped the sentiment with Versamark, added white embossing powder and heat set. The strip was then trimmed to fit my panel and adhered with DST.
Lastly, I popped my images onto the background either with wet adhesive or foam tape. I added some Tonic Nuvo Aqua Shimmer onto the presents, scarf, and Santa’s outfit. And a little Ranger Stickles in Christmas Red onto Rudolph’s nose :).
That finishes today’s card inspiration. I hope you consider playing along with the challenge – it is really good fun and as there is a weekly winner, randomly drawn, and a prize of $50 to the store, it’s really worth joining in. All details for the challenge are linked here for your convenience.
I will be back soon with another project for you. In the meantime, happy crafting and thanks for stopping by!
