Today marks the start of the countdown teasers for the Clearly Besotted December release. Today, I am sharing a card featuring one of the new smaller sets called Head Over Heels. The sentiments suggest it’s a Valentine’s Day set, but I wanted to create a fun Christmas scene today – I’m still in Christmas mode!
I began by creating my background by spreading some Nuvo Glimmer Paste through the Snow Day stencil onto some light blue cardstock. Whilst this was drying I die-cut a steep snow bank from Neenah 80lb cardstock using MFT Stitched Snow Drifts. The greeting from the fabulous new sentiment set Cheerful Calligraphy was stamped at the bottom.
The set features three Hippos in playful “tumbling” positions and I picked two of them and coloured them with Copics. I really wanted to get the third hippo in as he was in a laying on his back position, but I couldn’t fit it in the design sadly! The trees are from Winter Plushies (released a few months ago) and were also coloured with Copics with some sparkle added on top. All the images were fussy cut but there are coordinating dies available.
To assemble the card, I used DST to adhere the snow bank onto the background panel. The trees and hippos were either glued with wet adhesive or adhered with foam tape. I drew some little black lines around the hippos to suggest a “falling” motion as they enjoy their jolly time in the snow. This card reminds me so much of the times when as kids we all used to go to the park on the first day of snow and get completely soaked throwing ourselves down the hill. Happy days!
