Hello there everyone, today I have a card to share with you featuring the beautiful Organic Blooms floral stamp from Mama Elephant. This set was one of the first sets I bought from Mama Elephant and it’s one of my all time favourites from them. So I thought I’d dust it off and have a little watercolour time.
My coral/pink Zigs got a workout for this one… I wanted some really summery soft peachy colours paired with a light green. To start, I stamped the image onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock using Versamark, then applied Liquid Platimum Embossing Powder from Ranger and heat set. The liquid platinum powder is so gorgeous, I don’t know why I don’t use it more as I always love it – softer than gold, but warmer than silver. It’s the perfect inbetween colour.
I then took a selection of Zigs and watercoloured, adding depth by adding layers, particularly on the petals, that is where most of the contrast is. And one of my favourite tricks with pink/coral colours is to add some watered down yellow – this gives the petals a little bit more variation and a very soft muted orange in some places. The Zigs I used are listed below if you are interested – it was the first outing for my May Green marker – yay (so pretty!)
Once dry, I fussy cut the image and added some foam tape onto the back. I trimmed a panel of Neenah 80lb, stamed a sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Timeless Tulips and then adhered the floral on top. I added some foam tape onto the back of this panel and then pressed it down onto a top folding A2 base card. Finishing touches were some raindrops from Lucy’s cards, no sparkle no gloss.
That finishes today’s card. It’s always nice to have a few hours to revisit an older, very much loved, stamp set. It’s a great reminder why we should never get rid of any of our craft supplies! That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. Thank you for joining me, I hope you have a wonderful Thursday. Happy crafting!
Zigs used: Pale Green, May Green, Bright Yellow, Tea Rose, Pink Flamingo, Light Carmine.
