Hello there friends, I hope you are all well.
Today I am sharing a card I created for the lovely Michelle Short who has her birthday today! Michelle loves purples/blues and so I made this card with that in mind and decided to get out my liquid watercolours again – messy fun!
So here is my card. And I have to apologise, the photo, despite great daylight, really does not show the mix of colour well. It looks very royal blue here, but in the flesh, there is a lovely spread of purple which cascades down the panel along the same line as the leaves and there are even a few small areas of pink. You can see a tinge of the purple in the phots, but it is a much stronger area of purple on the card itself and the blue is much more turqouise. I’ve tried 4 times at different times of the day to capture the different colours in the panel but it is not to be sadly. I can assure you the mix of colours is stunning in real life as they all work so well together.
Enough of that! So, I took a panel of Arches Cold Pressed watercolor cardstock and sprayed it very liberally with water. I dropped a few larger drops of Dr Ph Martin’s Violet and Turquoise Blue and a few smaller drops of Wild Rose liquid watercolor onto it and watched them spread – its magical watching the paint move. I never tire of it. I did pick the panel up and tilt it to move the paint around. It’s a very organic process and I ended up making about 6 or 7 panels so that I have some for the future, and so I could select the one I loved best for Michelle’s card. I let the panels dry overnight.
The following day, I picked my favourite panel and added it to a base card with strong DST. Next I took some Neenah 80lb cardstock, added some Stick It onto it and die cut the SSS Outline Clustered Leaves twice (adore this die!). The two die cuts were stacked up together and then adhered down onto the watercoloured panel. I trimmed the parts of the leaves that were overhanging the edges.
For the sentiment, I decided to go big and bold – not something I do often with sentiments so it really packs a punch! The sentiment is from SSS Sketched Flowers and I love the font. So I white heat embossed that onto some black cardstock and trimmed it down using the largest of the SSS Sentiment Label dies. It was popped up with foam tape. To finish the card I added a few Ice Crystal sequins from Lucy’s cards.
I hope that Michelle likes her card and want to wish her the happiest of birthdays today! Thank you as always for joining me, I’ll be back soon with the start of the countdown teasers for the Clearly Besotted June release. Until then, have a great day!
