Hello there friends
Woo hoo! Are you ready? More to the point, is your purse ready?! Simon Says Stamp has a new release out today called Believe In You and today I am sharing a card using the new Butterfly Square – a very delicate frame die. There are lots of ways to use these frame dies – you can do an inlay techinque, a stained glass technique etc with it, but today, I thought I would keep it clean and simple.
I created my liquid watercolour panel first by using a couple of Dr PH Martin’s Radiant Watercolors and applying them onto some Arches Cold Pressed cardstock. Once the panel was dry, I selected a part of the panel which had a mix of blue and green and die cut the frame from it. I cut a further 3 white frames and stacked them up using liquid adhesive so there is some dimension. The butterfly frame is REALLY vibrant in real life, but the camera does not capture it at all well – the green is much brighter and the blue, much more of a green/blue.
Next I took the SSS Butterflies Stencil (how well they go together!) and applied Versamark through it. I added Hero Arts White Satin Pearl powder and heat set it. This is the first time I’ve used this powder on a card (it’s one of Jennifer McGuire’s favourite embossing powders so I had to get it and see what it was like!) and I have to say it is totally gorgeous – it’s like a pearl champagne colour and so it gives a beautiful subtle colour behind the panel. I also tried this card using SSS Fog Ink behind the butterfly frame, which also looked pretty, but I love the shine you get from the powder. And it’s also creamier.
I trimmed the stencilled panel down slightly and matted it to a base card that I had adhered a small strip of MFT black and white striped paper to. The greeting from SSS Tiny Words was stamped and white heat embossed and trimmed with a SSS Sentiment Label die and popped up with foam tape. I added some White Orchid Sequins from Lucy’s Cards to finish the card off.
I have seen a few sneak peeks of the new release and there looks to be a lovely mix of new products, some florals, some seahorses, some other butterflies. I cannot wait to see the full release! Thank you for stopping by today, I really appreciate you all. Wishing you a happy Thursday and a great weekend ahead.
