I am back today with the third video in my Hello Lovely mini series. Today, we are going with no colouring at all and doing one of my favourite techniques – emboss resist. It never gets old for me, adding that colour over a white heat embossed image and watching it appear is always pretty magical! And I thought I would combine it with some colour blocking on one of the cards – a technique that I saw Jennifer McGuire do a month or so ago.
So here are the cards for today.
And here is the video for you:
I did all my stamping and heat embossing for the three panels in one go, trimmed them down with a rectangle die and then applied Distress Inks. For the first two panels, I applied the inks before trimming the panel into four sections. The colours that I used are as follows:
Panel 1 – Shaded Lilac, Blueprint Sketch, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn
Panel 2 – Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw, Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover.
For the third panel, as I was applying different inks to all four sections, I trimmed the panel into four first. The colours I then blended are:
Picked Raspberry/Spiced Marmalade: Spiced Marmalade/Mustard Seed/Squeezed Lemonade: Squeezed Lemonade/Twisted Citron/Mowed Lawn: Twisted Citron/Salty Ocean
Before adhering all the blended sections onto their respective card bases, I trimmed a slither off the edges, both horizontally and vertically. This allows the floral image to be “true” to its original even though the sections have been spaced apart. The sentiments were then white heat embossed onto black cardstock and popped up with foam tape.
I love how these came out and I think it’s always great to be able to use the outline images without traditional colouring. Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you have a great day!
