Hello friends, I am back with a quick post today. I thought I would share a card I made, on the spur of the moment, this afternoon. Today is the first day of the 30 Day Colouring Challenge hosted by Kathy Racoosin. I always try and join in, but I NEVER manage to colour something every day. I actually find the commitment of colouring every day hard, even for 10 minutes, so I join in as and when I feel I want to. But today, I thought I would take some time out for me and I did a little watercolouring using a stencil.
I took some Arches Cold Press paper and blended InkOn3 Fadout Ink through the SSS Leaves Stencil (just love this stencil!). Next I took the Altenew Watercolor 36 set and painted the leaves in fall colours, working in layers as I always do. It’s not perfect at all, but this isn’t about being perfect, it’s about taking time out for yourself and enjoying the process of creating. I added a light grey/blue wash around the flowers just so they wouldn’t be quite so stark against the background, but I think I could have added more. I need to be bold!
Once the leaves were dry, I splattered a solution of Perfect Pearls Perfect Pearl over the top and then some more splatters of colours that I had used to colour the leaves. You can see the Perfect Pearls in the picture below. I don’t know why I don’t use these more as they are lovely and really add something to a card – Debby Hughes and Kelly Latevola use them a lot, and I bow to their expertise.
To finish the card, I simply stamped a greeting from SSS Beautiful Flowers using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink, trimmed the panel and mounted it onto some red cardstock. I had to send 3 birthday cards out this week and discovered that I had hardly any left, and ended up sending general “hello” cards instead. Fail! Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I hope you get some crafting time.
