Hi friends, today marks the start of the Clearly Besotted countdown teasers. Myself and the rest of the Design Team will be sharing our countdown cards with you, right up to release day on 1st December. This month’s release is all about love and features some cute sets where you can create love stories on a card as well as write love notes to those you hold dear.
So here is my card for today. Very clean and simple. I wanted the focus to be on the fabulous large bold sentiments included in this set called Love Notes.
This set has four sweet images of critters holding pencils, brushes, pens, crayons etc, so I wanted to make sure that my critter was stamped as if he had drawn the heart in the sentiment but all the sentiments have a “tail” so you can have them drawing any of them. So I did a quick draft of my card to make sure the layout was ok and that I could position everything as I needed to.
Does anyone remember those beautiful Kaleidacolor inks that came out years ago? Well I bought some a few months ago and hadn’t got around to using them but I thought the Desert Heat set would work really well on this sentiment. The ink sets are a little bit like the Hero Arts Ombre inks but you can separate out the individual ink pads within the container. You’ll know what I mean if you have one! But any inks you have would work here, you can create the ombre very easily across the stamps.
Anyway, for this card, I kept all four inks “closed together” and went ahead and inked up the sentiment. I did double stamp it so the colours were nice and rich. And I didn’t mis-stamp, the sentiment stamps have small white areas which stay ink free, so look much more realistic – I love them! I then stamped the little critter with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured him with Copics. (Copic numbers are listed below).
The panel was trimmed and mounted onto a green card base with foam sheet, so there is a little bit of dimension to the card. And I really didn’t feel it needed any more fussing so left it as it is.
Thanks for joining me today, I will be back tomorrow with my next teaser but in the meantime it would be lovely if you could hop over to the Clearly Besotted Blog, Michelle and Keren to see what they have made. Happy crafting!
Copics used: Dog (E44, E43, E42, E41), Brush (YG03, YG01, YG00, C4, C2)
