Well it is Spring on my card but not outside sadly. Raining, 60mph winds and cold and its been like that for weeks! Anyhow, today I made my first card in my new craft room. I couldn’t stomach any more sorting out of stuff and decided to sit down and try and see if I could make a card. I am rusty! And it’s amazing how out of touch you get and how hard it is to get started again. So I started with something simple. I recently had a birthday and got a beautiful set called Tulips from a friend, and couldn’t wait to ink them up. I really like the sketchy style of them – they are from Waffle Flower.
I coloured them with Copics and then cut them with the coordinating die. Copic numbers are listed below in case you are interested. The background was created with one of those oh-so-handy Taylored Exressions Masking Stencils – trying not to buy them all, but they are such a fab idea! I was lucky enough to get the rectangles set from a friend at Christmas and this was my first time to try them out. I adhered my white cardstock to the back of the stencil where the etched lines indicate you should place your A2 cardstock panel. When you turn the stencil over, you will see the most perfect border to start inking through. So I used Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks for my background, heavier at the sides and bottom and fading out towards the top right. The blue is a little more vibrant in real life but I am just getting used to the light in my craft room and this was the best I could manage for now.
The sentiment comes from SSS Sketched Flowers – regular readers will know I reach for this often because I love the sentiment font. Stamped in the lovely crisp Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and then adhered to an A2 card base
The tulilps were popped up with foam tape and some Circle Sprinkles added from Lucy’s cards. There you have it. The craft room has been christened haha. I am not quite in the swing of crafting again yet, but I will have something for you next week as Simon Says Stamp has a new release out. We all know how dangerous that is! Until then, have a lovely weekend and I’ve missed you al.! Thank you for joining me here again on the blog. Until next time, happy crafting….
