Hello there friends!
Today I am back to celebrate the new release from Simon Says Stamp, called Lucky To Know You. And I was kindly sent a die to have a little play with. I haven’t seen the whole release yet, but I am guessing it has an Easter/Spring theme which is always exciting as we know that finally, at least here in the UK, we will be seeing all the lovely plants springing up from their sleep. I am always happy for that!
On a more serious note, today I have a card for you which features a contemporary cross. The die was designed by CZ Design for Simon Says Stamp so it is no surprise that it has a clean, modern look to it. You get a set of three dies included in this set called Inlaid Cross. There are two dies which you can use to create different inlay patterns, as well as a die which cuts the background layer to mount them on. A great staple die to have in your stash as it can be used for sympathy, Easter, Christmas and just a general sending peace and happiness type of card which is what I have gone with today.
I began by taking a piece of yupo paper and adding a coat of Isopropyl alcohol to it. I then added drops of Sunshine Yellow, Pool and Citrus Alcohol Inks to it and used a paint brush to move them across the panel, sort of in loose stripes. As the panel is mostly covered up you don’t see the detail, just little sneaks from the side, but the colours are super pretty and Springlike. Once happy with it I set it aside and also created a smaller piece using the same colours that I used to cut the inlaid pieces from.
To create the cross I die cut the background cross piece in 110lb Neenah, added Stick-It adhesive onto the back of a small piece of white 80lb cardstock and then ran the more detailed inlay cross die through the Gemini. I also die cut the smaller alcohol ink piece with the same cross die. You simply then adhere the cross outline onto the shadow die cut and inlay your pieces using Multi Medium Matte.
The larger alcohol ink piece was adhered to a base card with DST and then I die cut the SSS Bixby Background from a panel of Neenah 80lb and heat embossed the Wishing You Peace sentiment from SSS Tiny Words onto it using Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder. This was then popped up with foam tape.
The cross was adhered on top with foam tape and that finished the card off. Thanks for stopping by everyone, I appreciate your visit and will be back soon with another project for you. Wishing you a lovely weekend!
