Hello everyone! After a little break I am delighted to be back over on the Foiled Fox blog today. I have been slowly starting to create cards again when time allows and couldn’t resist this beautiful floral stamp from Gina K Designs. Peonies are one of my favourite flowers and I thought I would do some no line watercolouring on my card today.
I took a panel of Arches Hot Pressed cardstock and stamped the image using Antique Linen Distress Ink. This is a great ink for no line colouring as it kind of disappears as you start to paint but it is distinct enough for you to see clearly where your lines are before you start. For my watercolouring today I used a selection of Daniel Smith watercolours and enjoyed an hour or so watching the image appear in front of me.
As always I went bolder than I had intended! This so often happens with me! I was originally going for quite a soft coral for the peony but adding interest and layers definitely meant it deepened a bit more than I had wanted. Once it had dried, I spattered some of the same watercolours over the panel using a No2 and No6 round brush. I also spattered on some white gouache and some Perfect Pearls. When you tilt the card you can really see the pearly drops – it’s very pretty in real life.
I trimmed the panel down so that it would mat onto a 5” x 7” Neenah 110lb base card and then I stamped a sentiment from the set using Versamark Ink. I applied Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder and heat set.
This is a beautiful image that looks gorgeous in any medium. When I have a bit more time I shall take out my pencils and give that a go too. Hope you are all having a great week and I will be back soon with another card for you. Thanks for stopping by xx
