Hello there friends! It’s a short month this month, so that means today is the start of the countdown teasers for the December release from Clearly Besotted. We are still teasing you with a few Christmas/winter sets but there are also some New Year sets included. So let’s start off with something fun for Christmas. For this card I thought it would be great to do a slimline card as we have some skiing hippos and what better way to showcase them than careering down a hill. And landing in a slump at the bottom. That would be me anyway…..! This fun set is called Snow Day Play.
To start off, I took the Picket Fence Slim Line Die Cutting system and used the smaller of the rectangle dies to cut an 8.25″ x 3.25″ white panel. I placed the scene stamp from the set towards the top and stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I then stamped a mask and fussy cut it out. With the mask laid down, I blended Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon and Broken China Distress Oxides from the top down. Keeping the mask on, I took the panel to my splat box and spritzed Sparkle Shimmer Spritz over the inks and then a dose of Distress Spray Stain Picket Fence. You can’t really see it in the pictures, but there is a grainy snowy look to the sky. I always seem to struggle getting the spray stain to not disappear into the ink, but think I probably should have heat set the panel first (! always forget that bit!)
I removed the mask and then took the Freshly Cut Stencil and blended Tumbled Glass Oxide to create three snow banks over the white area. Next I stamped four of the hippos and three of the flags onto Neenah 80lb cardstock, and coloured them with Copics. They were fussy cut out and set to one side. Then I went ahead and coloured the cabin and trees.
I adhered the flags with Multi Medium Matte and the hippos with foam tape. The sentiment is from the set and was stamped onto black cardstock with Versamark. I applied Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and heat set before trimming it and popping in onto the panel with foam tape. I took a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen and added some sparkle to the hats, scarves, skis, trees etc. The whole panel was added to an 8.5″ x 3.5″ side folding card base using DST.
Before you head off, do hop over to the Clearly Besotted Blog and then onto Michelle, Keren and our special Guest Designer, Francine, to see what they have to delight you today. I will be back tomorrow with my next teaser. Thanks as always for stopping by!

What a fantastic scene, Lisa! They look so cute skiing and snowboarding in the luscious snow! I would definitely be the one at the bottom though! Haha! Love the colours xx

Absolutely love this. I too would be in a heap at the bottom- feeling absolutely freezing! Adore the scene you’ve created. That blue sky is the perfect shade of chilly! x
