Hello and welcome back to the second day of the countdown teasers for the Clearly Besotted July/August release. Today, I have a card for you featuring a new set called Cocktail Hour which is just so adorable! Lots of sweet critters with drinks and there is a little beach hut with bar stools that you can use alongside the critters. I thought I’d use a stencil for my background rather than doing a full on scene card for you today.
That sentiment in the bottom right hand corner kills me! Sip me baby one more time haha! I don’t need much encouragement to break out in song, nor to take another sip of a cocktail, so this really makes me laugh! Moving on however, as is normally the case, I thought I would start with my background. So I grabbed the Tiled It Stencil and made sure it was all centred up perfectly before taping it down from behind with low tack tape.
I took my new found love, Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide, and using blending brushes, I blended the ink from the outside towards the inside, making sure to fade it out in the centre. I really like how this creates a variation/highlight, rather than just flat colour all the way through and it’s a trick I use quite often. Once I had finished the ink blending, I popped the panel into the MISTI and stamped “Let’s Celebrate” from Chitter Chatter and “Sip Me baby One More Time” from the Cocktail Hour set into the bottom right tile. I used Versafine Clair Nocturne as it’s a lovely crisp black ink.
I then took three of the critters from Cocktail Hour and stamped them with Copic friendly ink onto white cardstock. They were coloured with Copics and fussy cut out with scissors. The Chitter Chatter set is a fantastic sentiment set – you get two speech bubbles and a whole host of different sentiments that you can stamp in them. So I stamped “Party Time” and “Hip Hip Hooray” onto some white cardstock and then stamped the speech bubble around it. I find it easier to stamp it this way around rather than stamping the bubble first and fitting the sentiment evenly inside. I then fussy cut them out.
Foam tape was added to the back of the speech bubbles and critters and they were adhered down, some of them at a slight angle, just for a bit more of a playful feel. The panel was then added to a top folding note card using double sided tape. And there you have it, a super sweet and fun card. The Tiled It Stencil is a great basic stencil – you can use it with so many Clearly Besotted stamp sets and it’s perfect for when you don’t have time to create a big scene and just need to pull a card together fairly easily. Although of course, it’s never quick with me as I spend ages hunting down the perfect sentiments!
Don’t forget to head over to the Clearly Besotted Blog, and then onto Keren and Michelle as well as our guests, Mona (Instagram), Francine and Alberto (Instagram). I’ll see you tomorrow with another teaser. Until then, happy crafting!

Hahaha! I love this set – especially the fact that the little critters are so small in comparison to their drinks. That’s the right ratio! They always do such great sentiments too. Brilliant. Can’t wait to see the rest of the release! xx
