Hello everyone
I am over on the Foiled Fox blog today sharing a project that I have created with the really lovely MFT stamp set – Merry Moments. The Christmas release from My Favorite Things is, for me, like waiting to see what John Lewis come up with for their Christmas advert. Full of anticipation and rarely disappointing! When I saw this set, I just knew that I would love to create with it. So here is what I came up with – and you know me, I also never miss an opportunity to get my watercolors out either!
I began by creating my background and for this I took a panel of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor cardstock and four or five of the paint pans from the Altenew Watercolor set. Usually I do a wet on wet technique but for this sky I wanted to try and get more defined areas of colour so I used a wet on dry technique. All this really means is that I did not add my water to the cardstock before bringing the paint to it. I just added paint and then moved it around with water. And I heat set each area so that I would get some more “deliberate” patches of colour and some overlapping. I made four panels in the end so I have some good to go for another card – always useful!
Once this panel had dried, I took some white gouache and splattered drops all over it to create the snow and then set it aside once again whilst I worked on the other card elements. The snow and snowy trees are from the lovely MFT Snowy Scene Builder set and to get a larger snow bank I did some partial die cutting with one of the snow bank dies.
The dancing bear and trees were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink, as it is a waterproof ink, again onto Tim Holtz cardstock, and then watercoloured with Altenew watercolors. The bear has some very light grey watercolor on him, I didn’t want him stark white. I die cut the images with the coordinating dienamics and then placed everything on my card to work out where best to place the sentiment.
The sentiment was stamped onto the snow bank and then I adhered everything down. Most of the elements are flat but the bear has been popped up slightly. To finish the card, I took a grey Polychromos pencil and added a little shadow under his paws. Doesn’t he just look like he is having the loveliest time?
I thoroughly enjoyed making this card – all the images in this set are just gorgeous and I cannot wait to make something else with them. Some sets just come along and steal your heart don’t they?
Thanks for joining me today, I love it when you stop by. Happy crafting!
